What you need to know about the power requirements of the RTX 3070
If you are a more budget gamer, or simply don’t intend on pushing out huge numbers of pixels then a 3070 may be a more wallet friendly graphics card choice for 1080p and 1440p gaming.
The current “low” end GPU from the new Ampere lineup sits below the 3080 but still improves massively on performance when compared the previous generation cards.
Having said that, the power requirements are still fairly extreme, with Nvidia themselves recommending at least 650 Watts.

That’s right a 650W Power Supply is the required power supply for a low end card in 2020!
But wait, don’t toss aside your existing power supply just yet, let’s dive in a little deeper to what (2) is all about..
Recommendation is made based on PC configured with an Intel Core i9-10900K processor. A lower power rating may work depending on system configuration.

So that’s using a super high end (and a little toasty) Intel Core i9-10900k, which is unlikely to be the CPU of choice for a more budget oriented gaming build.
If you go for a lower power drawing i3 or i5, or more likely a Ryzen 3,000 or 4,000 it’s likely that you’d get away with a lesser power supply.
However, for the purpose of our recommendations we are only recommending 650+ w cards to ensure comparability.
